WHO WE WORK WITH

Nandri programmes are completely focused on the poorest people in Tamil Nadu. In addition to their extreme poverty these people must also live with a life-long categorisation due to the caste system. They are known as Dalits.

Those who have been broken and ground down by those above them in the social hierarchy in a deliberate and active way.

DALITS

The Dalits are history’s longest standing oppressed people group. They are also known as the “untouchables” and “outcastes” and make up nearly a quarter India’s population.

That is 300 million people at risk of discrimination, dehumanisation, degradation, trafficking and violence every day.

This is who Nandri work with. Each one of our programmes is clearly focused on educating Dalit children and empowering Dalit parents to generate income.
